BFDA Conducts IRCA-Approved Lead Auditor Training on ISO 22000:2018 to Strengthen Certification Competence

The Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA) Certification Services successfully conducted a five-day IRCA-approved Lead Auditor Training on ISO 22000:2018 (Food Safety Management Systems) from 9th to 13th June 2025. A total of 13 participants from both field offices and the head office of BFDA attended the training.

The training was delivered by DNV India, a globally recognized and accredited certification body, ensuring high standards of content and delivery in line with international best practices.

The participants who have successfully completed the Lead Auditor’s Training will significantly contribute to strengthening BFDA’s internal audit capabilities. This achievement is particularly relevant in the context of ISO/IEC 17065Conformity Assessment – Requirements for Bodies Certifying Products, Processes, and Services – as the training enhances the auditors’ competence, a key requirement under the standard. This will support the ongoing ISO/IEC 17065 product certification process under BFDA -CS

Moreover, the training also complements BFDA in aligning with other conformity assessment standards such as ISO/IEC 17020 (Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection), thereby boosting the overall quality infrastructure and regulatory effectiveness of the Authority.

This initiative is part of BFDA’s continuous efforts to build technical capacity and align with international accreditation requirements, reinforcing its commitment to food safety and public health protection in Bhutan.
