About Us
The Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA) is committed to safeguarding public health through the regulation of food, medicines, narcotics, and agricultural products.
Formed by merging DRA, BNCA, and BAFRA under the Civil Service Reform Act 2022, BFDA ensures the quality, safety, and efficacy of regulated products and promotes biosecurity, food safety, and substance control with professionalism and efficiency.

Controlled Substance and Medical Device Division (CSMDD)
Regulates narcotic drugs, controlled substances, and medical devices to ensure safe, legal, and effective use.
Food Quality and Safety Division (FQSD)
Ensures the safety, quality, and compliance of food through inspection, testing, and certification.
Medical Product Division
(MPD)
Regulates medical products to ensure their quality, safety, and effectiveness for public health.
Plant and Animal Biosecurity Division (PABD)
Protects plant and animal health by preventing pests, diseases, and biosecurity threats.
Certification and Standard Service
Provides certification and ensures compliance with national standards for food and agricultural products.
